Rhodes Group Welcomes New Consultants to Pittsburgh and Houston
October 10, 2017 The Rhodes Group welcomed Megan Rac to our Houston, TX team as a Project Consultant. Megan brings over eight years of experience providing project controls and CPM scheduling for major contractors, owners and engineers in the oil and gas sector. Megan assists in the analysis of construction delays and disruptions, as well as the development of baseline project schedules. She is skilled in the use of Primavera P6.
The Rhodes Group also welcomed Melanie Horton as a Senior Consultant in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Melanie has extensive experience in finance and accounting. She draws on her accounting background to assist in the analysis of costs and quantification of construction damages. Melanie is skilled in the calculation of damages related to delays, disruptions and loss of productivity.
August 1, 2017 Ivonne Beltran Parks, CCP was recently promoted to Project Manager. Ivonne has been a member of The Rhodes Group since 2006. Ivonne specializes in the analysis and quantification of construction related damages. She draws on her accounting experience to conduct complex cost analyses for use in the identification of issues and the quantification of related damages.
July 3, 2017 Congratulations to Allan Banks on becoming a Fellow through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). RICS is global professional body promoting and enforcing the highest international standards in the valuation, management and development of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. Allan Banks is a Project Executive in The Rhodes Group’s Houston, TX office. As Project Executive, Allan oversees and manages the analysis of construction-related claims on complex projects. He draws on nearly two decades of experience to assist clients in the identification and management of schedule and cost risk. Allan is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).
June 15, 2017 Two of The Rhodes Group’s experts were recognized in Who’s Who Legal: Construction 2017. The publication, which identifies the foremost leaders in construction law worldwide, also recognizes leading construction experts who provide assistance to clients as expert witnesses in major construction litigation, as well as advising on an array of quantum and delay issues. Andrew Rhodes was noted as the “go-to expert” for construction and has previously been regarded for his “cast-iron testimony.” This is his third year being recognized by Who’s Who Legal: Construction. Laura Miller was recognized for her “exceptional” analysis of delay and disruption-related damages and has been commended as a well-known name in the market for construction issues. This is her second year being recognized. Both Andrew and Laura were also recognized in Who’s Who Legal: Consulting Experts 2017 in the Quantum and Delay Category. Nominees for both publications are selected based upon comprehensive, independent survey work with both general counsel and private practice lawyers worldwide.
June 1, 2017 The Rhodes Group recently welcomed Nathan Woodside as a Project Consultant in its Pittsburgh, PA office. Nathan adds significant industrial experience to The Rhodes Group’s CPM Scheduling team. Nathan has extensive experience maintaining CPM project schedules for nuclear and coal-fired power plants, including both online and outage work. He has nearly a decade of project controls experience and is skilled in the use of Primavera P6.

May 15, 2017 Laura Miller and Christina Casciato were recently credentialed as Certified Construction Auditors (CCA) through the National Association of Construction Auditors. Both Laura and Christina are also Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE), and Laura is a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
April 20, 2017 The Rhodes Group recently welcomed Joshua Diez as a Project Consultant. Josh brings a strong background in finance and will assist in the analysis of construction costs and quantification of construction damages. Josh holds an MBA from Pennsylvania State University and a B.S. in accounting from The University of Pittsburgh.
March 1, 2017 Executive Director Leroy Trimbath, CPA, CCIFP was named a member of the AAA Roster of Neutrals . Leroy is an expert in the analysis and calculation of construction related delay and disruption damages. He has been designated as a testifying expert on construction related disputes involving delay damages, loss of productivity related damages, extra work related damages, reimbursable costs, and amounts due as a result of termination for convenience. Leroy is experienced in the review, reconciliation and evaluation of construction costs and contract amounts. His construction industry experience includes over 40 years and encompasses positions from cost accountant through Chief Financial Officer of a general contracting firm.
ENR MidAtlantic Names Shawn Modar Top Young Professional
February 13, 2017 Engineering News-Record (ENR) MidAtlantic selected Shawn Modar as one the region’s Top Young Professionals. The program, formerly known as “Top 20 Under 40,” recognizes individuals for their career achievements, industry leadership, and community service. “The vast majority of Shawn’s work is behind the scenes, and his involvement on projects is often confidential. I’m thrilled to see him recognized publicly for his contributions to our firm, our clients and the community,” said Rhodes Group president, Andrew Rhodes.
Since being named Vice President, Shawn has helped double the firm’s revenue and extend its geographic reach and service offerings. He also assisted in creating the firm’s Project Alignment Services group, which provides schedule and cost-risk management during the course of ongoing projects. The service offering was driven by The Rhodes Group’s desire to help project execution teams benefit from the unique perspective and experience the firm had gained from consulting on hundreds of formal disputes.
Shawn is committed to serving youth in both the Pittsburgh and Houston community. For the past 21 years he has volunteered his time in various capacities to schools and youth organizations.

Andrew’s experience includes assisting with the analysis of project issues related to schedule delays and disruptions. Prior to joining The Rhodes Group, Andrew practiced law for over nine years.
John Farren is skilled in the development and maintenance of cost and resource loaded CPM schedules utilizing Primavera scheduling software, including P6. He has over 20 years of experience scheduling a variety of projects. As a project consultant, he draws on his extensive experience developing and maintaining CPM schedules on complex industrial, power and infrastructure projects. Prior to joining The Rhodes Group, John worked as a project scheduler for several large contracting firms and owners.

Rhodes Group Scope it Out 5K Team Raises Money for Colon Cancer Awareness
September 20, 2016 The Rhodes Group once again sponsored and participated in the Pittsburgh Scope it Out 5K. Funds raised help the Colon Cancer Alliance provide critical patient support and prevention services to more than one million individuals across the United States each year. Andrew Rhodes and Michael Birmingham to Speak at 3rd Annual EPC Contract & Risk Management Conference
January 10, 2016 Michael Birmingham and Andrew Rhodes will speak at the 3rd EPC Contract and Risk Management Conference to be held in Houston, January 13-15. Michael will lead an interactive workshop on dealing with concurrent delay claims on large-scale EPC projects. Andrew Rhodes and Brian Davidson of DFL Legal will co-moderate a panel discussion on identifying and managing risk, in addition to their role as conference chairs. Panelists include Bart Turner of KBR, Jason Dunaway of Wells Global, and Bilge Astarlioglu of AES Corporation. The conference will bring together senior-level contract management professionals and in-house counsel in the Oil & Gas, Power, Process & Industrial, Mining, Construction and similar industries.

With over 24 years of experience working in the construction industry, John Palmer specializes in contract management, change order and claims resolution, project controls, CPM scheduling, cost controls and the early identification and management of schedule and cost risk. He is also experienced in the areas of schedule delay and loss of productivity analysis, as well as the calculation of construction damages. Prior to joining The Rhodes Group, John worked for Kiewit Energy, Kiewit Offshore Services and Kiewit Building Group.

September 9, 2015 Please join The Rhodes Group in welcoming Project Executive Chris Sammon to our team. Chris brings with him over twelve years of experience in the construction industry. He is skilled in the evaluation and substantiation of additional costs related to differing site conditions, defective specifications and productivity issues, and he has provided deposition testimony as both a fact and expert witness for arbitration proceedings. Prior to joining The Rhodes Group, Chris was a Project Manager for Malcolm Drilling, one of the largest deep foundations contractors in the United States. His experience includes the preparation of Requests for Equitable Adjustments and the negotiation of dispute settlements.

Congratulations to Jeffrey Hogan, our newest Project Manager!
July 30, 2015 Jeffrey Hogan, JD, CCP, PSP was promoted to Project Manager. Since 2008, Jeff has consulted on projects throughout the course of construction and provided claims analysis on projects located domestically and internationally. Jeff’s recent experience includes providing several months of on-site assistance to a pipeline contractor during the construction of a natural gas pipeline. His experience also includes projects involving the construction of power generation facilities, liquefied natural gas facilities, paper and pulp mills, oil refineries, federal courthouses, university and educational buildings, and commercial buildings. Jeff is a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) and a Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Paper Science & Engineering from Miami University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh.

Rhodes Group Welcomes New Hire, Summer Interns
June 19, 2015 The Rhodes Group welcomed Bedant Bhutia as a project consultant. Bedant assists in the analysis of schedule delays and disruptions on construction projects throughout the course of execution. He draws on field experience gained on international project sites, as well as his educational background. Bedant graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s of Science in Construction Engineering and Management and earned a Bachelor’s of Technology in Civil Engineering from SRM University in India. Bedant is certified as a LEED Green Associate and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The Rhodes Group also welcomed two summer interns, Ian Jones and Sean McCarthy. Ian is a senior at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Sean is currently a sophomore at Thiel College enrolled in the 3-2 Binary Engineering Program.

Annual Pittsburgh Marathon Course Animation Released
April 24, 2015 The DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon today released the annual 3D Course Animation created by The Rhodes Group. This is the fourth year The Rhodes Group has provided a course animation in conjunction with sponsorship of the Marathon. The course animation highlights the Start and Finish lines, as well as the Full and Half Marathon split, all of which were moved this year. Racers can also preview relay exchange points and course elevations. Andrew Dombroski, a technical animator for The Rhodes Group, created the animation. Andrew’s 3D/4D models and animations are most often used by The Rhodes Group to simplify complex project issues in a visually compelling format for use during dispute resolution and litigation. Update from the Houston Calf Scramble
March 31, 2015 For the past year The Rhodes Group has been closely following the story of Eduardo Concha and his heifer, Angela Blanca. At the 2014 Houston Livestock Show Eduardo was able to wrangle and harness a calf in the Calf Scramble Competition, earning him a certificate for the purchase of a registered beef heifer. His luck at the Calf Scramble also earned him a spot at the 2015 Livestock Show, where Angela placed 4th in the Calf Scramble Progress Show and 3rd in the Junior Show for Charolais breeding heifers. In between shows, there was a year of early mornings, hard work and dedication. Rhodes Group staff members, who donated portions of their “Jean Friday” charity fund to sponsor the Calf Scramble, enjoyed receiving monthly updates from Eduardo on his progress with Angela. Eduardo is a high school senior from Lufkin, TX who plans to major in mechanical engineering and hopes to one day own his own ranch. His participation in the Houston Livestock Show makes him eligible for several scholarship opportunities. Currently, more than 2,100 students are on Show scholarships, attending more than 100 different Texas colleges and universities. The value of these scholarships is approximately $40 million.
